Kay Klotzbach is committed to teaching and yoga. She believes all people are creative and that yoga can improve our quality of life in all ways, physically, emotionally and spiritually. She is inspired by the writings of Ganga White, Ram Dass, T.K.V. Desikachar, Sri Swami Satchidananda, Donna Farhi, Stephen Cope and of course Panjali.
In the words of Ganga White, "There is no perfect yoga body - yoga is perfect for every body." Many people have ideas about what the ideal body type for a yoga practice is. One can say that they are not flexible, strong enough or have terrible balance and therefore can't do yoga. First of all yoga is not a verb because asana is only one part of a yoga practice. Perhaps, there is a grain of truth hidden somewhere if one is referring to asana, but most likely you have taken something untrue, told yourself this over and over and now believe it. What would happen if you started practicing asana, gained some skill in these areas and repeated a different mantra? A mantra such as, "I am getting stronger every day through my practice". This would move you in quite a different direction. If you took it further and added pranayama and meditation your life would be enhanced even more.
By meeting with you and discussing your goals I can design an asana, pranayama and meditation practice that will be individualized and can be adapted week to week as your needs change. No matter what your current physical and/or mental condition is, yoga can benefit you. I don't say this casually or with any exaggeration. I have seen it in my own self and in the bodies of others. In the book, Yoga as Medicine, Timothy McCall, M.D. writes, " Yoga is not a panacea, but it is powerful medicine indeed for body, mind, and spirit. Above all, yoga is a path." All you have to do is take the first step.
